Friends hatch a plot to retrieve a stolen kitten by posing as drug dealers for a street gang.

freddy and krasnaya movie review

K: Another day and a new movie was watched by Freddy and Krasnaya. This time it was an action comedy movie named “Keanu” directed by Peter Atencio. The plot of the movie is simple – there is a kitten, the cutest kitten I’ve ever seen, and, for some reason, it chooses Rell’s (Oil) door and immediately charms the guy and turns his life into bliss after some miserable days he had after his girlfriend left him. What he’s able to do to find a stolen kitten after one week together, you will know during the next hour.

F: I've been following these guys since the times of MADTV. I'm an absolute fan of Key & Peele TV show and I was expecting much more from this movie. It's just a big long shot of a fake gangster sketch. It hurts me to give such a low rating, but I was really expecting more originality from these two. It was a fun ride anyway. Keegan-Michael Key is that kind of guy that just needs to move his eyes for me to crack up. I especially love him when he walks around furiously and waves his arms like in the Obama's Anger Translator sketch.
Check what I'm talking about:

K: This movie leaves you in a good mood after all, even if sometimes it becomes too bloody and cruel. The director did a great combination of straight cruel action and really funny moments. Freddy opened to me these two great comedians that played the main roles in the movie – Jourdan Peele (Rell/Oil) and Keegan-Michael Key (Clerence/Smoke). Thank you! They are amazing. Their expressions and emotions make you smile every time you see them acting.

F: There's too much of that vulgar violent gun action. Sometimes the movie feels too absurd and sometimes not absurd enough. There's some logical inconsistency that never gets me to move closer to the screen. The plot is boring, overdone, and predictably disappointing. Key and Peele's chemistry still shines, and what they needed was a better story.

K: Freddy, do you know who voices Keanu? It's none other than Keanu Reeves! Check below the auditions for Keanu's role.

K: Movie full of stereotypes about «niggers» (oops for this, but that's what they call each other) whose lifestyle is to make money on producing and selling drugs. I am still asking myself why Keanu was so special to everyone who met him? For example, for that true brother-gangster duo who killed the drug dealers silently… why? Who are they? Freddy, can you answer this?

F: I don't think you can say that word Krasnaya. And yeah, we needed answers. I was expecting a great plot twist about the origin of Oil and Smoke duo, so again, disappointment. I can't recommend this movie to anyone who doesn't know Key & Peel's work. Go watch the "I Said Biiiitch" clip on YouTube instead. Better yet, here it is:

Freddy's Score: 59/100
Krasnaya's Score: 58/100

Frank Oz: From Worst to Best

I've finished my Frank Oz filmography a while back and hadn't had the time to post here the rank and some thoughts about his work. Let's try to refresh my memory and give you some of my opinions... man. Frank Oz is a true legend. At 81, he's not just a brilliant filmmaker but also a puppeteer and writer whose characters, from the Muppets to Sesame Street, have touched countless lives. His directing career is full of outstanding, entertaining movies; out of 14 films, there's really only one rotten apple in the bunch. I'm not sure if he's planning to make any more movies, but I'd love to see him try his hand at a serious drama, just to see him flex a different creative muscle. I wouldn't like to be that famous, I value my privacy. Mind you, Miss Piggy enjoys every moment of it. If it were not for me, she would spend all her time in the limelight. Frank OZ This is his entire fi...

Top 5 - Luc Besson

Hey everyone, and welcome back! While I've been posting regularly, it took me a little while to wrap up my thoughts on Luc Besson's filmography and put together this top 5 video. It's been 384 days since my last post on this topic, so I know this video is long overdue, but I hope you'll agree that it was worth the wait! Video Format: For the Visual Film Lovers For those who prefer watching over reading, this video is an easy-to-digest introduction to Luc Besson's movies. I've been wrestling with how to present my thoughts on a director whose career, for me, went from "Cinéma du look" to "cinema don't look." I apologize for the monotonous AI voice in the video; I'm just not that comfortable speaking English with my accent just yet. But...
