A Quiet Place Part II (2020)

A Quiet Place Part II is a 2020 American post-apocalyptic horror film and the sequel to 2018's A Quiet Place. The film was written, produced and directed by John Krasinski for Paramount Pictures. Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe reprise their roles from the first film, while Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou join the cast. Krasinski returns from the first film in a new flashback sequence.

Following the events at home, the Abbott family now face the terrors of the outside world. Forced to venture into the unknown, they realize the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats lurking beyond the sand path.

Freddy and Krasnaya Movie Review
***SPOILER ALERT***

Suspending Disbelief... Again

FREDDY:
As you can see, I ended up pressing play. This second time around, my disbelief was a bit more suspended... to a certain extent. There's still a lot of stupid and predictable moments, but I think this sequel is better than the first movie due to some really intense scenes. They gave a teeny weeny bit of detail about what happened on day 1 of the invasion or whatever, and we got to see the kids all getting older back in time. ๐Ÿคฃ We still don't get to know how creatures took over the earth in 1 year, and me and Krasnaya agree that we needed that.
KRASNAYA:
Yes, here we are after checking this sequel out. I expected writer-director John Krasinski to give more explanations about how we got to the present moment, but nope... Creepy creatures with super sensitive ears have just appeared on mother Earth and started killing everyone. We already knew that, thank you. The family is now moving in search of a new, safer place.
Baby Box in Quiet Place
Happy baby in a box.

New Faces and Familiar Tropes

KRASNAYA:
In part two we see more characters and the main masculine part goes to Cillian Murphy, whose personality is lacking background history. You don't understand why he lives in an old factory where he draws tons of portraits of his son. He's just a bearded guy who decided to help Regan save humanity. I liked how the character of Millicent Simmonds now finds purpose and motivation. Besides, of all characters, her actions are the most logical. Another thing I didn't get. Who were those people on the pier? Why do they have red eyes and scratched bodies? Seems like John Krasinski wanted to add some side action, but it kinda failed again because of the lack of background.
FREDDY:
The old factory seems pretty safe, that's enough of an explanation I think, and the Pier people are heroin junkies who want to abuse you sexually, basically. ๐Ÿ‘… Now that I have explained some stuff to Krasnaya, let me tell you about my favorite scene from this movie. The one where everyone is lacking oxygen. That was great. Not the most super original movie editing ever, but still, mixing both characters who are trying to breathe was really cool and intense! The baby box is also something that gives me the creeps. John Krasinski gets some horror kudos from me, but just a little, because we still have so many horror clichรฉs like corpses falling, birds coming out of nowhere, and idiots who walk backwards when there are creatures around. So predictable. ๐Ÿคฆ‍♂️
Scared little girl A Quiet Place
I was expecting a little kiss on the cheek and thanks.

Headphones Recommended, Logic Not Included

KRASNAYA:
What I liked the most, again - the audio and visual parts! The director plays a lot with sounds. So I highly recommend using headphones (as we did) to experience all the spectrum of sound effects. Thanks for the idea, Freddy! ๐Ÿ˜š Now tell me please why didn't any of the survivors in almost 2 years figure out how to get rid of the monsters... especially after finding out that they couldn't swim! A Quiet Place 2 still left me with a lot of why's and doubts. I don't recommend it.
FREDDY:
These monsters have 2 weaknesses now; sound and water. They're so vulnerable ๐Ÿคฃ my god. Ellen Ripley would kill them all in 5 minutes. And the stupid Krasinski character in all of his research wasn't able to find these weaknesses. He just wrote big worded letters on his stupid boards. And what da f**k is up with the people on the island? They know that they are safe because of the water and they decide to put a little song on the radio?!?! As a secret message?! Why? So that the aliens couldn't understand?! So stuuuuuupid. Please grab that microphone and warn the goddamn people listening to the radio that the beasts can't swim.
Walking Bacwards on A Quiet Place
If you walk backwards in a horror movie, you're gone.

FREDDY:
Here we have it. This movie can be fun, but it is dumb. I will never watch it again, that's for sure. But if you want a relatively short horror movie to waste your time away with some popcorn, go ahead.
