Theme Week Wrap-Up AI Week This week moved through romance, grief, satire, homemade robotics and full-blown disaster nonsense, all under the umbrella of artificial intelligence. The best entries treated AI as something intimate and unsettlingly plausible; the worst turned it into noisy gimmickry. Even with the quality swings, it made for a fun lineup because each film pushed the theme in a different direction. Top Pick of the Week I'm Your Man (2021) - 85/100 Funny, smart and unexpectedly grounded, it felt like the most convincing film of the batch when imagining how human-shaped AI might actually enter ordinary life. Weekly Theme Announcement Welcome to Our 15th Week: AI Movie Week This week I will be reviewing a lineup of films centered on artificial intelligence. After experimenting with tools like Stable Diffusion and ChatGPT, I wanted to dive into movies that imagine where this technology may lead us, both for better and for worse. I am hoping this week explores not only exciting possibilities, but also the social and ethical costs that can come with rapid AI adoption. Questions around work, identity and dependency are becoming more urgent every year, and cinema is one of the best places to test those ideas emotionally.
