Hello dear visitors! This is the wrap-up of our Old Vampire movies week. From the five movies we watched, I only recommend these two: Near Dark (Yes!) and The Hunger . Near Dark is a super original vampire flick that mixes "cowboys" with vampires, and I love it so much that I'm gonna have a t-shirt made with my own original design. The Hunger is a more sophisticated movie in comparison to Near Dark. If you like vampires and want to keep it classy, this is the one to go. Ganja & Hess has a lot to say about afro-American culture in the 70's through metaphor, but it's just a too damn boring experience for me to be interested in what it has to say. Martin is good, mandatory for all George A. Romero fans. Not a movie for everyone. The Fearless Vampire Killers has a nice Transylvanian look, but it's ultimately a boring experience that runs for too long. Ganja & Hess is a 1973 experimental horror film written and directed by Bill Gunn and starring Marlene Clark and Duane Jones. It is one of only two films in which the lead role was played by Duane Jones, best known for starring in the 1968 film Night of the Living Dead (though he had bit parts in other movies). The film was screened at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival. The film was remade by Spike Lee in 2014 as Da Sweet Blood of Jesus. The script is credited to both Lee and Gunn. The Hunger is a 1983 supernatural horror film directed by Tony Scott, starring Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie, and Susan Sarandon. An international co-production of the United Kingdom and United States, the film is a loose adaptation of the 1981 novel of the same name by Whitley Strieber, with a screenplay by Ivan Davis and Michael Thomas. Near Dark is a 1987 American neo-Western horror film co-written and directed by Kathryn Bigelow (in her solo directorial debut), and starring Adrian Pasdar, Jenny Wright, Bill Paxton, Lance Henriksen and Jenette Goldstein. Despite performing poorly at the box office, critic reviews were generally positive. Over the years, the film has gained a cult following. Martin (also known internationally as Wampyr) is a 1977 American psychological horror film written and directed by George A. Romero, and starring John Amplas. Shot in 1976, Martin was Romero's fifth feature film and followed The Crazies (1973). Romero claimed that Martin was the favorite of all his films. The film is also notable as the first collaboration between George Romero and special effects artist Tom Savini. Hello people! As you can see from the GIF on top, this week we drew Old Vampire Movies. Uuuuhhhh, I love vampires. Is a movie from the 00's considered old already? I'm going to give it at least 30 years back. Late 20th century old. Don't want to go back all the way to "Nosferatu" or "Vampyr." Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee? Maybe not. I want something a bit less known from the old days and that I haven't seen yet. Join me and Krasnaya and find which vampires will be in our nightmares... or beautiful dreams this week.
