I Shot Andy Warhol (1996)

I Shot Andy Warhol is a 1996 independent film about the life of Valerie Solanas and her relationship with Andy Warhol. The movie marked the debut of Canadian director Mary Harron. The film stars Lili Taylor as Valerie, Jared Harris as Andy Warhol and Martha Plimpton as Valerie's friend Stevie. Stephen Dorff plays Warhol superstar Candy Darling. John Cale of the Velvet Underground wrote the film's score despite protests from former band member Lou Reed. Yo La Tengo plays an anonymous band that is somewhat reminiscent of the group. Initially intended as a BBC documentary, the screenplay was written by Mary Harron and Daniel Minahan.

Based on the true story of Valerie Solanas who was a 60s radical preaching hatred toward men in her "Scum" manifesto. She wrote a screenplay for a film that she wanted Andy Warhol to produce, but he continued to ignore her. So she shot him. This is Valerie's story.

We Are The Night brought me to this movie; I had to know what Valerie Solanas was all about.
solanas amok
Aaaand the bitch was crazy. I'm certain that there is a lot of truth in her work, but that anger and hate inside of her was too much.
