The Boat That Rocked (retitled Pirate Radio in North America, Good Morning England in France, Radio Rock Revolution in Germany, Rock Wave in CIS region, and I Love Radio Rock in Italy is a 2009 British comedy film written and directed by Richard Curtis. The film has an ensemble cast featuring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans, Nick Frost, and Kenneth Branagh. According to director Richard Curtis, the film, though inspired by real British pirate radio of the 1960s, is a work of historical fiction and does not depict a specific radio station of the period.
The Boat That Rocked is an ensemble comedy in which the romance takes place between the young people of the '60s and pop music. It's about a band of rogue DJs that captivated Britain, playing the music that defined a generation and standing up to a government that wanted classical music, and nothing else, on the airwaves.
***SPOILER ALERT***
The comedy has it's moments, I especially liked the bits with the government official. Watch the Sunshine Radio deleted scene down here, they shouldn't have deleted that one.
