I don't do plot overviews or safe, spoiler-free summaries. For that stuff, there's Wikipedia.
What I DO: I share my raw, unfiltered experience and thoughts on movies and TV shows. That means MAJOR SPOILERS could hit you in the very first line of any review.
I talk about films the way you'd chat with a friend who's already seen them. No dancing around plot points. No vague hints. Just honest, spoiler-filled conversation.
You've been warned. Now let's have a real talk about movies! πΏ

Vanishing Memories and Snake Obsessions
Last Saturday I took my oldest daughter over to Almada (on the south side of Lisbon) to catch The Bad Guys 2 on the big screen. We actually saw the first one in theaters back in 2022, but she was only 5 at the time and, damn, kids' memories vanish fast! She didn't remember a single thing about it. Not one character. After this one wrapped, I asked her what she liked most and least. Her answer for "least"? Nothing. She enjoyed the whole ride. Her absolute favorite parts involved Mr. Snake, specifically when he was blinded by love. It was genuinely laugh-out-loud funny. I tried to gauge if she liked this more than K-Pop: Demon Hunters, and she claimed she preferred The Bad Guys 2. I'm not totally convinced, though; she keeps pestering me to print color pages of K-Pop characters for school. Sounds like peer pressure to me. From her school friends that is.
Watch one of our favorite Mr. Snake moments below.
Evil Dad Laughs and Surprisingly Good Dubs
My personal highlight? The scene where they try to fool the audience into thinking the whole crew dies in a spaceship crash. I was literally the only person in the theater laughing out loud. The room wasn't packed, but I glanced over at my daughter and she had this dead-serious expression, totally locked onto the screen. I wanted to laugh even harder, that's just how evil I am. Obviously, they weren't dead, and everyone got their happy ending. Curiously, while hunting for clips to share, I realized the Portuguese dubbed version we watched was actually funnier than the original. Usually, it's the other way around, but the Portuguese voice actors did a killer job; Mr. Snake sounds way better in our language.
Below you can watch how the gang pulled off the Wedding Heist.
Mediocrity and Restless Legs
As for the movie itself? It's just ok. It's an action-packed animation, sure, but nothing is groundbreaking. The story and animation felt repetitive, and IMO, it suffers from excessive action. The last DreamWorks movie I truly loved was Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, which completely fascinated me and took me away from my worries. This one didn't do that. My restless leg kept shaking the whole time because I was never fully focused; there was just nothing new or truly creative here for me. It also unintentionally (or not) felt like it was ripping off the Zootopia universe, which is a far superior movie. Still, it's cool if you're taking the kids. I had a fun time just hanging out with my daughter, who was still dressed as a black cat, here in Portugal, we let the kids extend Halloween through the weekend. Do you guys do the same in your country?
Below I share another clip with a funny take from Mr. Snake.
