Death Note is a series of two live-action Japanese films released in 2006 and a spin-off released on February 9, 2008. The two movies are based on the Death Note manga (and later anime) series by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The two films were directed by ShΕ«suke Kaneko, produced by Nippon Television, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures Japan. The first film, simply titled as Death Note, premiered in Japan on June 17, 2006 and topped the Japanese box office for two weeks, pushing The Da Vinci Code into second place.
Light Yagami finds the "Death Note," a notebook with the power to kill, and decides to create a Utopia by killing the world's criminals, and soon the world's greatest detective, "L," is hired to find the perpetrator. An all out battle between the greatest minds on earth begins, the winner controlling the world. Written by Ryuzaki.
