The Great Gatsby is a 2013 Australian-American 3D drama film based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel of the same name. The film was co-written and directed by Baz Luhrmann, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, and Elizabeth Debicki. While the film received mixed reviews from critics, audiences responded much more positively, and F. Scott Fitzgerald's family praised the film, claiming "Scott would have been proud."
An adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's Long Island-set novel, where Midwesterner Nick Carraway is lured into the lavish world of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby. Soon enough, however, Carraway will see through the cracks of Gatsby's nouveau riche existence, where obsession, madness, and tragedy await.
***SPOILER ALERT***
I like the idea of mixing modern music with the 20's. It felt like all the criticism intended by the novel was transported to the present days.
My mind=blown is due also to the introduction to F. Scott Fitzgerald's work; it left me in a deep state of melancholy and emotional confusion.
